US political analyst Jon Alterman of CSIS says Israel must rethink how it’s approaching the Palestinians.
President Joe Biden’s inflexible pro-Israel stance would have been thought of conference for United States coverage 50 years in the past.
“It’s not a mainstream position any more,” says Jon Alterman, director of the Center East programme on the Middle for Strategic and Worldwide Research in Washington, DC.
Alterman tells host Steve Clemons that Hamas’s shock assault on Israel, and Israel’s persevering with destruction of the Gaza Strip, will power main modifications within the political management of Palestinians and Israelis.
There can be no progress until Israel makes approach for an answer “that gives dignity and some sense of self-determination to the Palestinians,” says Alterman.
